i've missed being online. but now that i'm online, i've got this little invisible organism tugging at me, asking me to go do my work.

reminds me of dobby. dang we're all going harry potter-crazy. "dobby will do everything harry potter asks him to!"

okay, little thing, i'll go after i'm done with this post okay? you've got no idea who's been longing for my update.

well actually, i don't even know myself. clarissa suggests putting a counter. but imagine the utter disappointment if i check on two consecutive days and see that the counter hasn't jumped at all.

anyway. happy birthday mozzie!! fifteen of us from 4eleven shared her present, yes, 15. we got her a doll house complete with a doorbell with sound, a family with a daughter, a dog that's bigger than the daddy (miss j lim pointed that out) and toilet bowl and sofa and stereo and everything.

and congrats qingyun on her acceptance for dsa into acjc! i hope to receive more success reports from the rest who applied!

my mum just screamed at my bro, who's pri four and got a p2 maths qn wrong. damn. i can't do a maths okay. here's proof:

i love these emails.

From: Mr.khalid mahmoud.

My name is khalid mahmoud, A Bahrain national I have been diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer .It has defiled all forms ofmedical treatment, and right now I have only about a few months to live, according to medical experts.I have not particularly lived my life so well, as I never really cared for anyone(not even myself)but my business.Though I am very rich, I was never generous, I was always hostile to people and only focused on my business as that was the only thing I cared for. But now I regret all this as I now know that there is more to life than just wanting to have or make all the money in the world. I believe when God gives me a second chance to come to this world I would live my life a different way from how I havelived it. Now that God has called me, I have willed and given most of my property and assets to my immediate and extended family members as well as a few close friends .I want God to be merciful tome and accept my soul so, I have decided to give alms to charity organizations, as I want this to be one of the last good deeds I do on earth. Sofar, I have Distributed money to some charity organizations in the U.A.E, Somalia and Malaysia. Now that my health has deteriorated so badly, I cannot do this myself anymore. I once asked members of my family to close one of my accounts and distribute the money which I have there to charity organization in Bulgaria and Pakistan, they refused and kept the money to themselves. Hence,I do not trust themanymore, as they seem not to be contended with what I have leftfor them. The last of my money which no one knows of is the huge cash deposit of Eighteen Million dollars($18,000,000,00)that I have with a finance House abroad. I will want you to help me collect this deposit and despatch it to charity organizations.

N/B:KINDLY NOTE THAT you will take out 20% of this funds for your effort and time. Regards, Mr.khalid mahmoud.
I WOULD WANT YOU TO REACH ME VIA MY PRIVATE EMAIL IFYOU ARE WILLING TO ASSIST ME.

abortion

just saw the you tube video of abortion on vera's blog (refer to links). actually, i've got varied view on that topic. like, you may say it's inhumane, since the aborted foetus is completely innocent. but.

if this mother already has five children, and out of the five three are disabled (think along the line of blindness, hearing impared, down's syndrome, autism etc.), and she's unemployed while her husband's an odd job worker. and one fine day she gets pregnant.

the chance that this child turns up abnormal is rather high, and the family can't really afford to raise another child anyway, even so if he/she comes out disabled. so i won't object if they choose abortion.

but of course, birth control would help solve the problem.

another one:
considering this couple are both high-ranked people in a company. (separate or not, you decide.) they've already got two kids, the younger one by accident. which means, they initially olny planned to have one child, since they're both busy. then another one fine day, the lady gets pregnant. accident too. mother and mother-in-law are both aged, father and father-in-law same as well, and they've already got two kids to handle.

and a few months later, a check shows that this foetus has down's syndrome.

i won't blame this couple for chossing abortion too, since they're already so busy and i personally think it isn't right to just dump your kids to your parents or in-laws. i mean, after all, they're YOUR kids, not you parents' or your in-laws' right? furthermore, this third child may cause everything else to be more complicated.

but of course, if another lady, who's married and hasn't had a child yet, suddenly gets pregnant one day, and decided to abort it after determining the sex of the foetus after three months. the couple wanted a girl, yet the scan showed a boy.

then it's a whole different case. they shouldn't be aborting the child for gender isn't everything.

and. there's only one other person online right now. meng hua. and i doubt he's really in front of the comp.

but anyway. it's friday! which means, there'll be no school tomorrow and the day after tomorrow! ok that's lame. considering your truly's a sec four bombarded with all sorts of funny things ranging from tys-es and german compos scoring nine out of thirty.

something to be elated about:
4eleven got 2nd for interclass netball!!! or 1st...runner up, as yanglu put it. won 4/2 this time round, but lost to 4/8 4/10 combined.
from 3rd to 2nd, we shall get a first soon! heh.

post-live earth

WOW. people went to LIVE EARTH concerts and left the place STREWN WITH LITTER.

which means, mr al gore, your idea of the concerts for a climate in crisis weren't really THAT successful.

though i enjoyed it!(:

and i seriously think the climate's getting crazy. it's raining really heavily now, like, low visibility and strong winds and thunder and lightning and red skies. how long ago haven't we had such heavy rains at 10.36pm on a sunday night?

the core rocks. the movie i mean, the one that was shown after life earth. don't take advantage of the planet people, yes, our lovely blue planet, else it'll STOP SPINNING and things will go horrendously wrong. like birds killing themselves by colliding into buildings, electricity coming out of coffee makers, tvs going off during the climate of a football match, earthquakes all over...well. we won't be killed, but our lives will be like torture.

oh, my printer just produced 16 printed pieces of paper. but it's printed on both sides and using only black ink, not colour. and i switched the printer off already.

---------------------------------------------------------
i called two organisations, and both asked for my ic number. to confirm the alphabet at the back, both asked "a for america?" haha. why not a for ang mo kio, or apple, or...well i think it's just like, those customer service officers go to the same training centres (a phrase my mum especially likes) and they teach them the same thing. or, they might be classmates.
...---...
that's sos in morse code. byebye.

LIVE EARTH!!!!

I PLEDGE:
-To demand that my country join an international treaty within the next 2 years that cuts global warming pollution by 90% in developed countries and by more than half worldwide in time for the next generation to inherit a healthy earth;

-To take personal action to help solve the climate crisis by reducing my own CO2 pollution as much as I can and offsetting the rest to become “carbon neutral;”

-To fight for a moratorium on the construction of any new generating facility that burns coal without the capacity to safely trap and store the CO2;

-To work for a dramatic increase in the energy efficiency of my home, workplace, school, place of worship, and means of transportation;

-To fight for laws and policies that expand the use of renewable energy sources and reduce dependence on oil and coal;

-To plant new trees and to join with others in preserving and protecting forests; and,

-To buy from businesses and support leaders who share my commitment to solving the climate crisis and building a sustainable, just, and prosperous world for the 21st century.

ahh. support Live Earth tonight, 7pm, 7th July 2007, in "the concerts for a climate in crisis". liked the trailer on channel five so much, but haven't been able to find it online to download. anybody have it?

"none of us is exaggerating. global warming is for real."

and oh, on the live earth website, to change the language, if you click on the sg flag, you get malay! i thought i'll get singlish or smthn. lol.

for fun:

Jahrhundert aufzubauen.

that was the live earth pledge in german.

I DON’T GET HIGH TO FLY*
written by terry lee

See some people strive to be good at what they do, you know
But among them are the folks that strive to be best in the business.
I like to believe I’m one of those... you know why, listen
I'm confident I'm living,
The life I chose to live in
Honestly, I tell you I’m fine
I made it on my own,
For all the things I’m known,
And it shows, you hear it all in the beat,
(Hear that)

Young and fly is I
I’m doing what I like, I’m alright
(hey dawg I’m fine ain’t a thing on my mind)
Don’t spend my time getting high
I rather do what I like
I’m living high off the life, you know
(everything is going on)

I don't get high to fly,
Ain't got no reason why,
Me, myself and I,
We’re just fine,
I don't get high to fly,
Or have a drink but why,
Me, myself and I,
We’re alright,
We don't get high to fly.
The sun is shining bright,
My life is looking fine,
I had troubles
But they’ve all gone away

I'm sure that you been there,
Trying to make a choice,
Doubt is in the air,
But you're clear.
(You already know what you want)

The weak ones spend their time,
tryna alter their minds,
But I got control of mine

Young and fly is I
I’m doing what I like, I’m alright
(yes I am fine don’t need it to get me high)
Don’t spend my time getting high
I rather do what I like
I’m living high off the life, you know
(everything is going on)

(No, no, no)
I don’t need nothing more (I don’t need nothing more)
Than me, myself, I (me, myself and I)
So tell me when you ready to fly (fly)

People talk about needing something else,
The only thing they need is not to lie to themselves,
I’m good I’m fine I’m happy alone,
No coke no pills no weed in a cone,
One thing though, I’ll tell you lightly,
Tell it how it is now how it might be,
Honestly, I made a choice to be,
Number 1 in this whole industry,
You know the name and the game where I be,
The famous, one and only name is T Lee,
Mama told me the worse like this be
You ain’t never higher than the highest in me
The truth is in me believing in me
I need nothing else to elevate me
Love or hate me, young and healthy
Flying trying to be the greatest I be

Music (miss yeo-inspired compo)

Music
We always dreaded those lessons. The weekly lessons in a badly-decorated Music studio, the half-an-hour sessions that seem to drone on forever, a period in our timetables where we listen to the teacher “who can’t sing” share with us the history of Music and recite pieces off-tone, claiming herself that she has a bad throat.

Beethoven, the Renaissance, there seemed to be so much that we were tested on termly, but I only have these two examples in my mind, simply because she articulated them in a weird accent. Till now, I do not know whether it is Bee-tho-ven or Beh-tho-ven. She used both. Also, whether it is Rer-nai-sence or Reh-ner-saun. She used both too.

We never bothered to ask, it did not seem to matter anyway. Why would we want our young minds to be cluttered with Music history? How does it even affect us that Beethoven was deaf? It does not, in the very least, change our lives when Bach produced his many pieces. In the society now, which teenager in the right mind would “give a damn” about the classics when the boom boxes all around are blasting genres of pop, rock and hip hop?

Nevertheless, being in one of the top schools in the country, it is in our blood to study for tests. So, even without the very minute interest in the development of Music over time, passing the eight tests she set us over the two years was a rather easy feat. I also remember vividly achieving an ‘A’ for a Secondary Two Music project with a few classmates who disliked the lessons as much as I did.

We thought we would be free from the heavy boulders chained to us that was Music when we finally advanced to Secondary Three, since Music lessons were only applicable to the lower Secondary students. We would mock the juniors carrying white and yellow Music files, trudging into the badly-decorated Music studio for half-an-hour-weekly sessions which seem to last forever with the teacher “who can’t sing” and always seemed to have a bad throat.

Little did we realise, that the little once-a-week sessions has embedded in each of us a microchip, one that nurtured in us culture, particularly in terms of art. Music seems to be what our lived revolved around, though seldom Fur Elise.

We do not anticipate stepping into the Music studio again, yet we always look forward to the occasional Music performances during assembly, where we, with the culture of Music embedded in us, appreciate and immerse ourselves in Music from all over the world.

Those two years may not have been very entertaining, but what it did to us was something that had enriched us, such that we will remain cultured citizens. Looking back, it is actually hard to believe what Music can do to one’s soul.
