cantabile XXI!

just returned from njchoir cantabile XXI. say ke-teh-be-leh twenty one. haha. they had soloists for the phantom of the opera's all i ask of you. nice but not opera standard. they upped the tempo abit, so the feeling's sorta gone. and i don't know why there were so many jap pieces when njc's supposed to be german.

but it's a nice change seeing a choir with male members. note the s, cuz nan hua's choir only has one little sec one boy. i spotted eugene! but he was standing right infront of the conductress, so always get blocked. lol.

highlight of the day: i got stuck in the toilet cubicle at vch. ask me for details. prepare for a great laugh.

short hair saga

went back to school today, after german and lunch with ruth, ena, amel and yuhui. teachers were funny!

miss sathi: hi stephanie! hey you cut your hair!
me: yes!
miss sathi: (to miss yvonne lim) this is another stephanie. (mdm yong's called stephanie too)

mr chow: erm..you look nice...ehh..more mature and erm...(this goes on while he searches for words)
me: you're like trying to find adjectives to put in!

mr tan tl: ehh why you cut your hair?!?
me: erm. stress luh.

mr n liew: ehh what happen to you?!?!
me: i cut my hair?
mr n liew: whoa it's like the in thing to cut your hair now arh?
and group of teachers burst out in laughter.

me: hi miss lim!
miss j lim: (bursts out laughing)
me: why?
miss j lim: you look like somebody!! (pretty long pause) you look different! that's why i couldn't recognise you!
(then this teacher came, dunno her name)
miss j lim: (points to me) ehh you daughter arh? she just cut her hair also!

me: mdm yong...
mdm yong: (stares) i dunno you! don't come over!

mrs tan: eh? new hairstyle arh?
me: yes!
mrs tan: nice!

and miss ong cy talked to me for like 10 minutes.
miss ong: eh? ni3 zuo4 mo4 zai4 zhe4 bian1?
me: zuo4 gong1 ke4 lor.
miss ong: you3 lao3 shi1 guide ni3 ma1?
me: mei2 you3 luh.
miss ong: then ni3 zi4 ji3 lai2 zuo4 arh?
me: shi4 lor.
she was walking away already, then she u-turned back.
miss ong: kao3 de2 zen3 yang4?
me: bu4 hao3.
miss ong: ji3 fen1?
me: 16.
miss ong: hai2 hao3 lah.
then she asked about the details. then we talked somemore. she was real nice! though i highly suspect she was talking to me cuz she thought she was talking to somebody else, since she has never taught me for the four years i'm in nan hua!

oh baby

oh baby

oh baby

the new me.

ahh. cultural pot's over. so after two months of repeating my plan to cut my hair, i've finally done it today. i didn't cut it myself luh.

length cut off was approximately 25cm. haha. find me in bustling singpore to see. and yes, aaron's hair may even be longer than mine.

in fond memory of my hair, which i think occupied 35cm2 in the salon, let's observe one minute's silence.

no, i didn't really do that.

honour roll:
last person to see me in long hair: pei fang
first person to see me in short hair: miss tan. yes, the dance one. saw her on the bus back home.

coincidental or what?

blog-hopped since i couldnt get work done in such horrible weather. saw that rebe had a friend called stephanie too, so i went to her blog. and guess what. she's born on september 26, 1991 too! impressive.

the weather. ahh. you fellow singapore dwellers know what it's like nowadays, hot and humid like never before. reminds me of the inconvenient truth i watched with yayi at the green spelling bee on friday. for the past twenty years, temperatures of the earth are rising at like, 10 times as compared to before. it's scary. not just the part about icebargs melting and flooding away land and polar bears drowning and terrble droughts on one side of the country while the other's having disgusting floods. it's the part where i've got a whole month of holidays and i can't get myself into the mood of doing homework and preparing for prelims so i've got to walk around aimlessly and blog like nobody's business and sleep as late as i want and eat like there's no tommorrow then get fat. damn.

if you've survived reading that long sentence, give yourself a pat on your back. not many people can put up with my rantings you know? haha.

bad schedule tomorrow. i'll be awake at 5am, first lesson's at 7, then to third lang, then back to clementi for cultural pot preparation. the whole thing's supposed to end at 10.30pm, where there's a high possibility that it'll drag. then i'll reach home near midnight, then reach school the next day at 8.

it'll be an interesting june holiday.

ptc!

ptc today! during sec one i was getting all excited for the fact that the initials stand for plant tissue culture, one of the projects i did in primary school where we "clone" plants like endangered ferns and orchids. i still remember spatoglottis pliccata. that's the scientific name of a really pretty breed of orchids. but of course, it's parent-teacher conference, for those of you still finding out what i'm talking about.

4eleveners, well done for the arrangement of tables and chairs! was impressed when i went up to class. ((:

reached school at 7.10, when mrs tan asked me to reach at 8. so i went to class to get stuff done, then walked round school, then decided to wait at the carpark. saw mr yeo come, he gave me a funny expression through the windscreen, and i gave a wide smile back. interesting. so mrs tan came, waved through windscreen. then mr tan (not mrs tan's husband, no. it's the pe teacher!) came in his bmw motorbike. while in long sleeve and long pants and tie. and the tie was fluttering about in the wind. funny. and he waved at me, so i waved back.

went office with mrs tan get stuff, then saw mr tan again.
me: eh you wear like that ride motorbike very funny leh.
him: what to do? only got that vehicle what.
my mum was amused by his usage of the word "vehicle" when i told her.

was in class till 12+, then i left. 16 parents came, which was a rather significant number. more than half the class okay.

so, yes, had lunch and everything and went home. didn't feel like doing work so i went to sleep. getting fat. gahh. i just yawned, which means i'll most likely be sleeping again soon.

notice for 4eleveners, esp those who didn't go to school today, bio on monday's cancelled cuz mdm yong's got invigilation for o lvls chinese.

and those sitting for your papers on monday, remember your dictionaries. and your pens and your correction tapes/liquid paper. and don't write your name on the answer script. good luck!(:

pics galore

just random photos taken from my phone...
that's my surname. and andrea thought it was a fanciful billabong zipper.

napfa results. 2.4's 13.10.

humourous message on the whiteboard at third lang, correction's done by me.

this bomb was discovered at jeslyn's dad's work site.

yayi and i went for green spelling bee today, this is our very crappy answer sheet. please zoom in.

i made this, star by star. it's the cabinet that's beside my bed. and if you haven't realised, it's my name.

was waiting for the doors of the esplanade threatre studio to open, so whipped out my phone and started snapping. if you can see the reflection, that's me.

that's cruxifixion drawn by my brother.

and my dinner was pleading for me not to eat it up. fyi, it's bu4 (no in english), formed by the four grains of rice. i didn't do anything to it, just picked up the spoon and voila! so i took a pic.

ruth gave me biscuits on wednesday! haven't eat yet. too precious. might decide to frame it up.

roots of a tree near my house. don't you think it resembles an insect? or a spider. depends on how you want to see it.

there was this moth on the gb noticeboard one day! it's real okay.

and i think this is stupid. for you non-chinese people, it's translated as "parents of a pupil are newspaper vendors, therefore he/she doesnt need to order newspapers".

and this is me at the esplanade, the same day as the photo in front. dunnid to see face luh.
and i'm beginning to get pissed by the contents of books i'm reading recently. the other time was tuesday's child, and now it's the pact. WHY DO AUTHORS LIKE TO MAKE REALLY REALLY CLOSE FRIENDS GET TOGETHER AS A COUPLE? quoted from the book: "you see, i broke up with my boyfriend, so i need to talk to my best friend. the thing is, you're both." SEE! that's the problem. i don't want to carry on reading the book already. i hope i'll be lucky enough to get something of another plot the next time i go to the library.

and i'm just down;

have been updating every day recently, no idea why actually. feeling rather emo these two days, so i'm really sorry to those i snapped at, and thanks to those who attempted to cheer me up.

and i've never anticipated that i'll find solace in this:

I just want to see your face
I just want to bow down
Sing of your amazing grace
Dream of being in your arms

I don't want to stand afar

All I want is to love you more
Draw me close to your heart

I will give you my heart
I will give you my soul
I will love with my life
I will offer my all

Lord I give you my heart
Lord I give you my soul
I will offer my life
I will offer my all

(there's a line that i can't really get, if you know what it is please let me know, many thanks![:)

good teachers always, yes, leave.

just when i mentioned that the credit goes to mrs chia for my english results only yesterday, i received news that this is her last week, before she goes to st anthony's to be the vp. i guess that something nice fore her, but still, SHE'S LEAVING.

and mr tan tl's leaving too. last week's this week too. though i didn't really like him in the beginning, he proved to be a nice pe teacher. and i thought we would finally have a stable pe teacher, since we had three teachers, one after another, last year. didn't say where he'll go, but it'll be something to allow him progress in life. so that's good. but still, HE'S LEAVING.

today a junior told me my p6 form teacher's leaving the primary school, last week's this week as well. seriously. i don't get what's with teachers and leaving after the first semester. she got the president's award for teachers when i was in p6, and i was on the papers for that. i wouldnt say she's a really really good teacher, but she's not bad. her leaving doesn't really affect me though, so i shant do the "but still, SHE'S LEAVING." thing.

and finally. on my birthday last year, my chinese teacher for the last three years of my primary school went home to God. she was really nice. and she just left like that, thanks to some lung disease causing her infection during the sars period.

teachers come and go, but only the gems stay within us.

manns. I'M LEAVING NAN HUA THIS YEAR. sounds very,

traumatising.

improvement. every little bit counts! (:

heh. not taking german into consideration, since my second paper's tomorrow, i'm glad to say i imroved my l1r5! though it's like, one point less than my ct1. but hey, every little bit counts!

and no, to the certain people who went "ehh stephanie topped the class in english leh. but i think it's her compre that pulled her up.", i would say i did equally well in both paper one, which is compo and situational, and paper two, comprehension. you can't expect the same marks coming from compo and compre, yes? if you separate the papers, it's a1 for compre and a2 for compo, and you should agree it's harder to get marks for compo. but still. ultimately, i got an a1 for english, thank you very much, though it isn't a very high a1. i'm glad of my achievement, i'm glad that you noticed, but i don't appreciate you talking behind my back, as if you thought i don't deserve it. i worked for it, so i'm just collecting my fruits of labour. i didn't really expect topping the class anyway, but i'm glad i did.

and i'm still surprised that i topped english, since i've never been really strong at it, liking chinese more than english and taking chinese lit and all. i've got to thank mrs chia for the english, and yes, i believe i should express my gratitude to mdm chong for my low marks in chinese. i'm never done so badly before she taught me. i was like, top 3 in sec 2, when mdm foo and miss lin were teaching me. but now. well. i did tell mr yeo the truth.

you're in the corner of a square room, with superman, batman and spiderman each in the other three. there's a golden chair in the middle of the room, equidistant from everybody. despite the legendary superpowers of the superheroes, you'll reach the golden chair first, because the rest are non-existant in real life. there's no superhero to save the day. ultimately, you've got to count on yourself.

unearthly hour.

well. i know i'm supposed to go to sleep, since i've got to wake up at 5.30 later, but...i'm not tired.

i haven't done any work this weekend. like, really.

saturday was young leaders' day, so i went to ngee ann with ruth and yayi. ten to four okay. then i went home and bathed and caught a bite and left for esplanade for a play, at the same time aaron was enjoying his phantom of the opera, so really coincidental, though we never saw each other. not that i didn't enjoy my off centre, it's actually rather well done (sounds like steak). but the presence of many (too many) people i know sorta dissolved the magic.

suddenly i sound like some weird cartoon character who's anti-social and mad.

so. after reaching home at around 11, had a bath and went to sleep. so i actually slept earlier yesterday than today.

sunday, which is technically yesterday, since it's the 17th minute of monday, 21st may as i'm typing this. woke up at near 7 and had dumpling for breakfast with mum, did primary school maths because of my brother (model drawing, no algebra), watched a bit of tv, read newspaper, read book, and that book lasted me till like, half an hour ago.

tuesday's child by louise bagshawe's a nice book, great plot ending with a nice love story and ample humour here and there. but. i still believe really really really good friends of the opposite sex, or "mates" as quoted from the book, should never never never get married. seriously. if they get married then who's going to be each of their best friends? gah.

emily sent me a 10-word message with six people mentioned. amazing huh. "steph wendy clarissa ellisse cheryl yeo and i going prom."

and i think i'm too wordy. bye.

Single
Natasha Bedingfield
Unwritten

ah yeah that's right

all you single people out

there this is for you

i'm not waitin' around for a man to save me

(cos I'm happy where I am)

don't depend on a guy to validate me

(no no)

i don't need to be anyone's baby

(is that so hard to understand?)

no I don't need another half to make me whole

make your move if you want doesn't mean I will or won't

i'm free to make my mind up you either got it or you don't

this is my current single status

my declaration of independence

there's no way i'm trading places

right now a star's in the ascendant

i'm single (right now)

i like who I am)

i'm not saying I don't wanna fall in love 'cos I would

i'm not gonna get hooked up just 'cos you say I should

(can't romance on demand)

i'm gonna wait so I'm sorry if you misunderstood

everything in it's right time

everything in it's right place

i know I'll settle down one day

but 'til then I like it this way

napfa

i hope that's a temporary german fetish i have, else you guys will have trouble understanding my posts. haha.

napfa today rocks man.
mr yeo: ehh your shirt (class jersey) too big lah, cannot run (shuttle run) fast one...

LOL.
me: mr yeo, you havent return our geog papers so i've got nothing to say. (after jeslyn attepmted to "blackmail") but then hor, my homework (indicators of developement done in like march) still with you leh.
mr yeo: so this is what? blackmail arh? then you don't need to run ler lah, how much you want? i write for you.
me: nine, nine. *laughs*

but i still ran in the end lah. 11.16. slow, i know. cuz i didn't jump like ranika mah. lol. (inside joke for G4E)

results...
sit ups: 48
sbj: 172cm
sit and reach: 44cm (disgrace to dancers, i'm sorry)
ipu: 23
shuttle run: 11.16 sec
2.4km: 12 or 13 point something.

i'm amused. 4/1 had more than a few guys with zero chin-ups. and aaron has juniors thinking he's handsome. well, not that i think that lowly of my friend, but it's, well, unexpected. if he was such an attractive person, don't need to wait until sec 4 for people to realise.

XD

dreams(:--credit sajc

Take time to work - it is the price of success
Take time to think - it is the source of power
Take time to play - it is the secret of perpetual youth
Take time to read - it is the fountain of wisdom
Take time to be friendly - it is the road to happiness
Take time to love and be loved - it is the nourishment of the soul
Take time to share - it is too short a life to be selfish
Take time to laugh - it is the music of the heart
But remember to take time to dream - it is hitching your wagon to the stars

To be without dreams is to be without hope; to be without hope is to be without purpose.
But don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you've been, but also where you're going. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savoured each step of the way. So be brave enough to make mistakes in your life for mistakes help you learn. If you happen to get lost, you may stumble across interesting discoveries that leave a lasting impression.

Open your eyes to beauty; open your mind to their wonders; open your heart to possibilities. Don't be afraid to take risks, become involved, and make commitments. Dare to live your dream. Do whatever it takes to make your dreams come true. But above all, believe in miracles because miracles do happen and dreams do come true.

deutschefied

Uberhaupt (anyway).

went to nanyang today again.was half an hour early, so i sat at the bus stop while i viewed hci guys. disappointing lah. i thought they were those civilised people always portrayed, but no. so when derniese finally came out, we took 174 to jp. after she killed many enorm ants at the bus stop.
there was this nice uncle on the bus. we were sitting at the back, where the burning engine was. both of us commented it was hot, then the uncle, sitting beside derniese, turned the air con towards us. haha. though it was aiming at the wrong part lah, it was our legs that were feeling the heat.
went kopitiam in attempt to study, then we switched to mos burger cuz there wasnt air con. had apple pie while she called for a rice burger meal.

the verdict: mos burger's apple pie's better than mcdonald's. and that's from a person who doesnt usually eat apple pies.

thank you liwen for spending two hours with me at central! we had mcd's breakfast for lunch, then walked round central. then i sent her to mrt, then i went back mcd do work, then i went out and met cp, then i sent him to mrt then i went to take bus to nanyang. haha.
and while the group of friends were enjoying themselves at plaza sing, i was studying german. okay. not like german's the worse thing on earth. it's actually nice okay.
and yes, liwen and ade attempted to steal my germany-singapore collar pin.

pictures!

it says: jasper was here! on a library beanbag. i hope it's not THAT jasper.

aaron's hundred acres family liquid paper. 10 altogether, winnie the pooh taking up three, heffalump, rabbit, roo, piglet, kanga, tigger, eeyore. the ruler(king)'s robin. WHERE'S OWL!

handsoap, so what! i've got facewash okay.

anyone care to tell me what the danger of the hole-y plastic thingy? right. i could use it to strangle people. and they'll die. but then it's me that's dangerous yea?

all formed from the same twirled piece of cable tie, just from different angles!(:

Und das sind alles fur heute, veleicht komme mir zuruck, sagen, um das Wochenende? haha. bis bald! (jetzt gehe ich zum deutschewiederholung...)

deutschapur!

we were discussing bout seeing uniformed people shopping, and..

me: but we seldom see nanyang and nan hua people together right?
derniese: don't have one lor!

and we were both in uniform that time, she nanyang me nan hua. lol.

had adventures on the bus, and by the end of the day, i conclude.
DERNIESE GOH. seriously. i think we've got telepathy.

example number one;
(at the same time)
me: which country are they from?
derniese: china people...

example number two;
(at the same time too)
me: i think i'm going to cut my hair...
derniese: are you going to cut your hair?

haha. met up to go german embassy, me and derniese. then we were supposed to meet with frau ostlund and the others at the mrt station. wei jie sms-ed me whether i was reaching soon, but since we were already near, i didn't bother replying. then frau ostlund called. i was still eating my ice cream cone, while derniese had already finished hers, so i asked her to answer it for me.
derniese: hello? this is derniese.
frau ostlund: oh. hello, wei jie gave me this number, i thought it was stephanie's.
derniese: yes! this is stephanie's phone, but i'm derniese!

or something like that. super funny lah. were instructed to meet at raffles place, but herr spindler told his class ri guys city hall. so we waited for them to come over.
frau ostlund: i shall tell them(at the embassy) that it's the ang moh giving wrong instructions to the asians and getting all of us late.
no joke. she really said "ang moh".

was flipping thru old e mails, and dug out this:

a forwarded mail

when you have nothing to say,
still want to keep in contact,
guess what you do,
you forward mails!

when you have something to say,
but don't know what,
but don't know how,
guess what you do,
you forward mails!

when you have something to say,
but don't know why,
guess what you do,
you forward mails!

so next time you get a forward from me,
it means i'm thinking of you!

2. 411 class cartoon (painstakingly done by amber)
3. 411 x-country half-class photo

3. back to normal

über der Regenbogen

somewhere over the rainbow way up high,
there's a land that i heard of once in a lullaby.
somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue,
and the dreams that we dare to dream really do come true.

someday i'll wish upon a star and
wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
where trouble melts like lemon drops,
away above the chimney tops that's where you'll find me!

somewhere over the rainbow blue birds fly,
birds fly over the rainbow,
why then, oh, why can't i?
XD
funny how little things amuse us as kids while now we think nothing of them.

gb apple.

gb gave out apples to lucky people who stayed in class during the break between chinese and bio on friday!

me: an apple a day keeps the doctor away...
amber: ...but if the doctor's handsome, throw the apple away.
